Comparison of the effects of general anesthesia and combined spinal-epidural anesthesia on intraocular pressure in lower extremity surgeries employing pneumatic tourniquets: a randomized clinical trial

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background & Objective: Induction of general anesthesia has been known to raise the intraocular pressure (IOP). The effect is more pronounced at time intubation. Similarly, applying pneumatic tourniquets associated with rise in IOP. We compared effects and combined spinal-epidural (CSEA) on IOP lower extremity surgeries employing tourniquets.
Methodology: A total 50 patients, aged over 18 y, completed study. Patients were randomly divided into group (Group GA) CSEA CSE). hemodynamic parameters including systolic arterial (SAP), diastolic (DAP), mean (MAP) heart rate (HR),were measured baseline (T0), after induction (T1), intubation or initiation (T2), placement tourniquet (T3), removal (T4).
 Results: There was no difference between groups T0 (P > 0.05), but it higher T2, T3, T4 Group CSE than GA < 0.05). SAP only T3 İn T1, that 0.01) similar T2 SAPs those 0.05) although 0.01). same T4, 0.05).

Comparison of blood pressure measurements on the upper and lower extremities during spinal anesthesia

Introduction: During spinal anesthesia, measurement of blood pressure is often obtained by an indirect method using an inflatable cuff on the upper arm. The relationship between the blood pressure measurements at the two sites in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia is unclear. This study was designed to evaluate the difference observed in systolic blood pressure (SBP) taken from the upp...

The Effect of General Anesthesia and Spinal Anesthesia on Quality of Recovery after Abdominal Hysterectomy; Randomised Clinical Trial

Background and Objective: The low quality of recovery after anesthesia has prolonged postoperative hospitalization time. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of general anesthesia and spinal anesthesia on quality of recovery after abdominal hysterectomy. Materials and Methods: This study is a clinical trial on 100 women 35 to 70 years with ASA class I, II who candidate to abdomi...

Clinical Outcomes after Lower Extremity Revascularization: A Comparison of Epidural and General Anesthesia

Objective: This study tests the hypothesis that epidural anesthesia during, and epidural analgesia after, lower extremity vascular surgery decreases the incidence of postoperative morbidity compared with general anesthesia. Method: Using a prospective, randomized, non-blinded clinical trial design, 82 patients scheduled for lower extremity revascularization surgery were randomized to either epi...

Effect of intravenous regional anesthesia with spinal block on foot surgeries: A double-blinded randomized clinical trial

Introduction: Intravenous regional anesthesia is a simple and reliable method for surgeries of the lower extremities.  The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of regional intravenous anesthesia with spinal anesthesia on foot surgeries. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted as a randomized clinical trial on 60 patients undergoing foot surgery in two similar groups. In this ...

Combined Spinal Epidural Anesthesia

Regional anesthetic techniques are rapidly evolving to meet the needs of an ever increasing day surgery patient population. Rapidity and control of onset and offset of anesthesia with minimal side effects are now required of regional anesthetic techniques if these are to compete with general anesthesia. Spinal and combined spinal epidural (CSE) anesthesia for the day surgery patient are discuss...
